The Tipis
The name tipi comes from the Sioux words ti, meaning “to dwell or live” and pi meaning
“used for”. Each tipi consists of Douglas fir poles, fire retardant canvas, a fire
pit, futon bed, storage chest , drip catcher and information book.
What’s included - Here is a list of what is included in your Tipis
- Futon Beds
- Fire Pit
- Cool box
- Storage box
- Candles, lanterns and fire lighters
- Basket of fire wood – one per day per tipi, extra available for £3 a basket
- Basic Blankets and cushions – be aware, you are in Britain, it gets cold at night,
please bring sufficient bedding and/or sleeping bags
- Crockery and cooking implements – please note we do not allow these to be taken off
site so please bring your own camping sets if you are planning picnics.
What to bring - Here is a suggestion of what to bring – some of it is essentials,
some is just added suggestions to make your stay that bit better
- Groceries
- Torch(es)
- Bedding – sleeping bags, duvets, blankets – whichever you fancy.
- Towels – we suggest tea towels, shower towels and an extra towel for any swimming
or paddling that you do in the adjoining river
- Wellies – don’t panic, the site itself is not boggy, but when exploring the surrounding
area it is always advisable to bring sturdy, waterproof shoes – especially where
children are concerned.
- Wet weather gear
- Sun cream
- Insect repellent
- Folding chairs – if you want extra seats which you can easily move around
- Bikes – always good to have if you enjoy cycling as the opportunity for it is plentiful

- Extra storage boxes - for your food and belongings if you feel it is necessary
Don’t panic. If you forget anything we can point you in the direction of the best
place to get it. Where towels and bedding is concerned, we can hire these out at
a cost of £10 for bedding for two and £3 per towel. Where possible, please advise
in advance if these are required.
