OUR STORY

Stuck on where to go for your next Welsh family holiday or Romantic Couples Getaway?
R
ead here about how an idea grew into an semi off-grid, eco-friendly, award winning camping experience. Rated as 5*,
Camp Cynrig Glamping Site is wholly committed to encouraging a sustainable environment and maintaining the natural and beautiful landscape that is native to Mid Wales, UK.

Camp Cynrig Glamping Site in the Bannau Brycheiniong National Park, Wales, UK is a family run venture and 2012 was our first year in the UK tipi glamping holiday business. During 2015 Rob was hard at work building a Camping Cabin to add to our Brecon glamping site - hand-built by Rob, the Luxury Cabin is Rob's own version of the popular Eco-Pod and is a the perfect Glamping Pod in Brecon.  Over the last 6 years it has proven to be as popular as the Tipis, and help us avoid turning people away due to being fully booked! The cabin is even home to a one of a kind bucket shower. The cabin offers guests their own private flush toilet.

During 2018 we added a Bell Tent with Private Shepherds Hut Kitchenette to our glamping in Brecon site. The kitchenette is once again hand-built by Rob - it contains gas cooking facilities, dining table and a sofa bed. Situated over-looking the River Cynrig it offers the bell tent guests a relaxing area whatever the weather. Summer 2020 has seen the addition of our second, larger Bell Tent with Private Shepherds Hut Kitchenette.

At Camp Cynrig Glamping Site we aim to limit our impact on the land as much as possible. The site is semi off-grid, using solar power for the main source of power, incluiiding lighting and mobile phone charging but offering some electric to the cabin and large bell tent to allow for the use of kettles, toasters, hairdryers etc. We recycle and use compost bins as much as possible and encourage all holiday visitors to keep the site and countryside clean and tidy by using the onsite recycling shed. No cars are allowed on site, but the car park is adjoining the site; fully screened from view by the evergreen hedge.

Many of the items in the cabin, Bell Tents and kitchenettes are upcycled - from the storage boxes to the sofa in the cabin, wherever possible we re-use old materials/objects instead of buying new. All our bbq's are individually handmade by us (Rob)  and are wood fired.

The surrounding national park woodland and bordering river Cynrig is a haven for wild animals, insects and flowers and we encourage this by educating guests on the local wildlife through our woodland walk and books available in the units. Many of the areas in and around the campsite are being planted with wildflowers and other plants to offset any disturbance caused by works on the site.

We know our area inside and out and are always willing to help you plan how to spend your holiday and suggest some of what we think are the best places to visit in Wales. The glamping campsite is on land adjoining our house and we welcome both adults and children alike to wander the woodland footpath and visit our chickens. We aim to create an enjoyable and relaxing Mid Wales Holiday for all - from Romantic Glamping Escapes to Fun and Exciting Family Holidays!

Please note: Due to planning restrictions we cannot offer a camping Brecon Beacons holiday, we are unable to accept tent or caravan pitches on our campsite. For Brecon camping we would recommend Pencelli Castle Campsite.

THE AREA

Our glamping campsite is distinctive in its beauty and sense of nature. The Bell Tents and Cabin are set in a gently sloping field which is bordered by the river Cynrig and endless quantities of flora and fauna. In the far corner of the site there is a small wooden footbridge which leads to a woodland path that you can follow through the Brecon Beacons National Park woodland, this path follows the river upstream and offers you the chance for a swim or paddle, or stop and observe the badger hides which are in surplus throughout the woodland.

The location of our Welsh Glamping campsite couldn’t be more ideal. Being situated in the heart of the Brecon-Beacons National Park you will never be short of places to walk and hike or simply take a slow lazy ramble. The opportunities for outdoor activities in the Mid Wales Countryside are endless. Walk, cycle, swim, fish or horse ride from our doorstep or further afield Llangorse Lake, a mere 7 miles drive away presents you with the chance to partake in many boating activities. Cantref Adventure Farm offers the chance of a fun packed family day out and is within walking distance of the site. If you feel like venturing further afield, the area is full to capacity with places to visit, take The Big PitDan Yr Ogof Showcaves, Carreg Cennen Castle or Black Mountains activities as a few examples.

If exploring the area and admiring the beauty of our country takes your fancy then, again, there a surplus of opportunities within a few miles drives away. We suggest exploring waterfall country, or taking a trip to Talybont-on-Usk and admiring the waterfalls and reservoirs and of course, exploring the Brecon-Beacons Mountains and taking in the magnificent Pen-y-Fan, the highest point in Southern Britain.

We could go on for hours, the list is never-ending, and so I suggest visiting our ‘Things to Do’ page and begin planning your holiday. We have provided links to many of the suggestions we have mentioned. If, after looking at the suggestions, you feel your stay simply isn’t go to be long enough, please get in touch and book those extra few nights needed to fit in more activities and really make the most of your holiday in the heart of the Welsh Countryside.

Camp Cynrig Glamping Wales

"This is an absolutely superb spot for a gathering of family and friends, as we had recently. Our group of 19 ranged in age from 6 to 47 and we all had the best time in this well-thought through and equipped site, where Rob, the owner, has taken care of everything so all his guests need to do is turn up and have fun. There’s plenty of space to relax, a covered seating area to all eat together, good bathrooms, a choice of accommodation & a pristine stream to paddle in. Add in the hammocks aaaand relax!"

"This is our 4th year coming to Camp Cynrig and each time we fall in love with it a little more. Rob continues to surprise us by adding new and creative additions each year! The camp truly is a little bit of heaven and my girls say it’s their favourite holiday every time we go. The eco lodge and both bell tents are well equipped with everything you need and the shower block and toilets are cleaned regularly. "

"Camp Cynrig has to be one of the best situated, and best presented little camp sites there is. It's close to everything you need for a great holiday, minutes away from Brecon town centre, and situated in a pleasant little valley that gives you the peace and tranquility you'd hope for in the heart of Wales.
The site itself is fantastic, clean, quirky, well equipped, with something suitable for all ages who love to really get away from it all."
